and it doesnt kill you to write translations ? Or just typical Frenchmen proud of their mother land, THE GREAT FRANCE. But you will get some from dady (germany). Maybe it is time not to make war now, but there is always football
and losing in football is worst than losing in war.
lool trop drole
wow i suck at french
Lovely advert, this is only humor + a vision of our so boring standardized english speaking world. French language is so much more beautiful, complex and refined, it has to be preserved. Today, English is everywhere until overdose, native english speakers can’t understand it.
Lol trop fort !
c’est bien méchant sa !!!
English is my most spoken language, and personally I don’t find this ad offensive in the least. It’s just good humor. I’m sure the person who wrote this ad doesn’t really believe speaking English causes heart attacks – that’s foolish. It’s just a joke.
Oi…I am french..but i have to say..this ad is not so nice. English is not such the bad language
what the?
LOL!!!! so FUNNY!
Ahahah, cette bande de connard.
I’m French but yes this ad isn’t very kind : D. English is a pleasant langage.
OMG I lol’d s hard, that’s not very kind but really funny!
250 years is a generous over estimation.
Um…’sounds terrible as a spoken language’? What is your basis for saying this…
If you do not like the way English sounds, then what language do you believe sounds better?
First of all, indigenous people have inhabited North America for tens of thousands of years, and their cultures continue to influence modern North American nations. Secondly, European settlement of North America goes back to the 11th century. To suggest that North American culture goes back only 250 years is an extremely ignorant thing to say.
English is not the most spoken. The most spoken is Mandarin Chinese, followed by Spanish and then English.
as it is for you to disagree.
And what exactly is this valid point, aside from paproganda like ad?
Well I disagree, it makes a very valid point. If you don’t like it, that’s your opinion.
I live in canada as well and I never meant to imply that English is number one, only that it is very important. I was merely stating this to correct some of bigotry in this commerical. I mean, this wasn’t funny that all. this was complete euro-centric hogwash.
Yes I am using English, but the only reason I am is because I live in Canada, where it is one of the official languages, my first language isn’t English, it’s Macedonian, and let me say I don’t like French grammar or spelling either, but there are some languages out there that are consistent with their grammar and spelling. The language I speak is phonetic, so spelling is easy, and the grammar is the same throughout. I just think English shouldn’t be #1.
The fact that people are adapting to english is proof enough of its use. Besides your agruement is moot because I wasn’t heavily emphasising on the number, I was merely making a joke that a lot of people would die if this commerical was even remotely true. I didn’t mean to start a linguistic competition. Please don’t start with grammar, french is just as bad, placing masc and/or fem on words as well as conditional, etc. Btw, aren’t you using english right this moment?
Actually English isn’t the “most known” internationally, it’s becoming more favourable to learn English as a second language but Hindi and Spanish have close to as many speakers worldwide that English does. Furthermore, if you want to go by numbers, there’s almost 3 times as many Mandarin speakers than there are English speakers.
And not to mention the fact that English has extremely inconsistent grammar/spelling, relies heavily on borrowings, and sounds terrible as spoken language.
Totalement d’accord
By america I’m assuming they are referring to US, but seeing as English is the most known language internationally …that’s a lot of possible deaths. Oh and for the record, notice how they didn’t mention anything about landmass or income?
haa
Brazil
