@youknowsit45 ok good to know, thanx

@vinhbethmickie French and Spanish are both both based on Latin, because they were both in the Roman empire for a very long time. English is structurally based on German because the ancient Britons were conquered by the Germanic tribes of the Angles and the Saxons (hence ‘Anglo-Saxon’) after the fall of the Roman empire.

England (Angle-land) was, however, conquered by the Normans (French) after that. So English is structurally German, but much of the vocabulary is based on French!

@FuhgizzleShow Can be used as both “very good” and “well done”. Like for instance, a teacher would use “très bien” to tell the students they have done well in a class.

@baigandine thanks cause i took french way back in second grade and did it agian in the 8th grade but maybe its the way how some pronounce it but thanks for the fact.

  19. baigandine says:

@curlyfrieslal English has some Latin and Greek and FRENCH origins. So while Spanish and French are more similar, there are also many instances where the French and the English are more similar. You will notice this if you ever read the instructions on a trilingual product. While Spanish and French had the same basic origin 1000 years ago, French exerted a direct influence on English, so that is why. French also was influenced by Germanic, like English.

  20. baigandine says:

@PiXIepuNK24 They have words in common although most aren’t exactly alike.
