I would not recommend this CD, and it is very difficult for me to believe the amount of 5 star ratings. There are some very decent products out there with a lot of effort behind them. Some for less money than this.
The key is to understand what this CD and what are not. SmartFrench general is not a language course. At all. It ’s just a set of dialogues that are repeated at 7 different speeds to refine the French ear, and help with pronunciation. It is not a competitor to Pimsleur, which develops its response to recall in a foreign language, or learning to his car, which refines the skills of grammar, or any variety of CDs available to build your vocabulary. These CDs make any of these things.
If you are looking to buy your first language learning tool, or need a review, this will definitely not be. This should be down on your list. If your vocabulary in French is excellent, but the pronunciation is poor, then this CD can help. On the other hand, would serve equally well to hire a French film with subtitles.

I SmartFrench Audio CD Intermediate / advanced and highly recommend it.
I have used in combination with Behind the Wheel French learn to speak French and have been very successful as a result.
After testing a variety of methods ranging from Bertlitz Pimsleur, I would say SmartFrench Audio CD Intermediate / Advanced is a breath of fresh air. It teaches you to speak “real French” of the real French village.
I enjoyed the variety of voices on the CD and the incremental approach to teaching that makes you talk in real time conversational phrases in French. This strengthens the confidence and communication skills in French and is essential to learn to communicate effectively.
Behind the Wheel French has provided me with phrases and vocabulary building techniques of high frequency class “fill in the gaps” and gave me a complete and highly effective learning experience.
Of course O is great, but the two together are a dynamic duo!

I found this excellent CD. They have really helped the bones of a trip to France. I have a degree in French and have searched high and low for the review of material that is fun and challenging enough and finally found this CD. I noticed an immediate improvement in my pronunciation and confidence of the French language. Merci!
